Guezzin Official Competition Rules & Scoring Document
Effective Date: March 5, 2026
Last Updated: March 5, 2026
These Official Competition Rules govern participation in all Guezzin forecasting competitions, including daily contests and cumulative leaderboard contests (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual). By participating in any competition, members agree to these rules.
1. Definitions
- Forecast — A user-submitted prediction for a specific asset at a designated forecast slot.
- Forecast Slot — A scheduled time window during which forecasts may be submitted.
- Daily Contest — All forecast slots occurring on a given calendar day.
- Daily Points — The point total earned from all forecasts submitted in a Daily Contest.
- Cumulative Leaderboards — The weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual ranking systems that use Daily Points.
- Actual Close — The official closing price of the asset as published by the designated data source for that asset class.
- Member — Any eligible user participating in a contest.
- Asset Class — One of the following categories: Crypto, Stocks, ETFs, Futures, or Indices.
2. Closing Price Determination
2.1 Official Closing Price Sources
Each asset class uses a designated official data source to determine the closing price. Guezzin may update or change these sources at any time to ensure accuracy, reliability, or data availability.
Examples of current data sources include (but are not limited to):
- Stocks: Official closing prices published by major U.S. exchanges (e.g., NASDAQ, NYSE).
- ETFs: Official closing prices published by the primary listing exchange or a recognized market data provider.
- Crypto: Published closing prices from a designated cryptocurrency exchange (e.g., Kraken).
- Futures: Official settlement or closing prices published by the relevant futures exchange (e.g., CME Group).
- Indices: Official closing values published by the index provider or a recognized financial data service (e.g., S&P, Dow Jones).
2.2 Flexibility Clause
Guezzin may modify the designated data source for any asset class at any time without notice. Any such change will apply prospectively and will not affect contests already completed.
2.3 Data Integrity
If a data provider issues a corrected or revised closing price, Guezzin may update contest results accordingly.
2.4 Displayed Market Data
Charts and market data displayed within Guezzin may be delayed depending on the asset class and the data provider. For example, certain equity and futures data may be delayed by approximately 10 minutes, while cryptocurrency data may be displayed in real time. Displayed data is provided for informational and educational purposes only and does not determine contest outcomes. All contests are settled exclusively using the official closing price published by the designated data source for that asset class, as described in these Rules. Guezzin may update or change charting providers or data sources at any time.
3. Settlement of Competitions and Publication Timing
3.1 Settlement Timing
Competitions are not considered final until the official closing price for the relevant asset has been published by the designated data source. Because publication timing varies by market and provider, settlement may occur:
- immediately after market close,
- several hours after market close, or
- overnight, including after midnight Eastern Time.
3.2 Examples of Publication Timing
These examples illustrate typical timing but are not guaranteed:
- Stocks and ETFs: Closing prices generally publish shortly after U.S. market close.
- Crypto: Closing prices may publish immediately or with minor delays.
- Futures: Some exchanges (e.g., CME Group) publish official settlement prices after midnight ET.
- Indices: Index providers may publish official closing values several hours after the market session ends.
3.3 Pending Status
Until the official closing price is published:
- the contest remains in a pending state,
- rankings and points are not finalized, and
- prizes are not awarded.
Once the official closing price is available, the system automatically settles the contest and updates all rankings.
3.4 Corrections and Revisions
If a data provider issues a corrected or revised closing price, Guezzin may update contest results accordingly.
4. Daily Contest Rules
4.1 Forecast Slots
Each Daily Contest contains up to six forecast slots. Forecast slots open at scheduled times throughout the day (for example: 10:00 AM ET, 11:30 AM ET, 1:00 PM ET, 2:30 PM ET, 4:00 PM ET, and 5:30 PM ET). When a slot opens, members have a 30-minute submission window to enter their forecast. After the submission window closes, no additional forecasts may be submitted for that slot. Forecasts are locked upon submission and cannot be edited. Slot opening times and submission windows may vary by contest or may be modified at Guezzin's discretion.
4.2 Daily Ranking Method
Daily Contest winners are determined solely by forecast accuracy:
- Absolute Error:
Error = ∣ Forecast - Actual Close ∣ - Ranking: Members are ranked from smallest error to largest error.
- Tie-Breaker: If two or more members have identical errors, the earlier timestamp wins.
4.3 Daily Prizes
Daily prizes are awarded based on the Daily Contest ranking. Daily prizes are independent of all cumulative leaderboards.
4.4 No Points Used for Daily Winners
Daily winners are determined exclusively by proximity and timestamp. Points do not affect daily results.
5. Daily Points (Used Only for Leaderboards)
5.1 Accuracy Calculation
For each forecast:
Accuracy = 1 - ∣Forecast - Actual Close∣ / Actual Close
5.2 Accuracy-to-Points Conversion
Each forecast earns points according to the following table:
| Accuracy Range | Points |
|---|---|
| ≥ 99.95% | 100 |
| 99.90–99.95% | 95 |
| 99.75–99.90% | 85 |
| 99.50–99.75% | 70 |
| 99.00–99.50% | 50 |
| 98.00–99.00% | 25 |
| < 98.00% | 0 |
5.3 Percentage Displayed vs. Actual
Percentage displayed is rounded to the nearest hundredth, however point calculation is based on actual percentage result.
Example 1: Value displayed: 99.95% | Actual value: 99.9499% | Points awarded: 95
Example 2: Value displayed: 99.95% | Actual value: 99.9501% | Points awarded: 100
